  9.       the full path.

  13.    3. If you modified a file in archive with encrypted names using
  14.       an external editor, WinRAR will not ask for archive password again
  15.       when prompting to update a file. It will use a password which
  16.       you entered when opening an archive,

  18.    4. Bugs fixed:
  19.  
  20.       a) switch -tl and "Set archive time to latest file time" option
  21.          could fail in previous version. Sometimes they set archive time
  22.          to current system time instead of latest file time;
  23.  
  24.       b) if -ag switch mask contained archive number, month and minute
  25.          characters, WinRAR placed 'I' character instead of minute value
  26.          into generated archive name for archive numbers exceeding 1;
  27.  
  28.       c) high ASCII names in ISO files using ISO 9660 format without
  29.          Joliet format extension were displayed incorrectly;
  30.  
  31.       d) WinRAR could crash when decompressing some of corrupt RAR archives;
  32.  
  33.       e) if "Turn PC off when done" option was set in "Convert archives"
  34.          command, WinRAR turned PC off after converting the first archive
  35.          in selected group instead of after converting the entire group;

  37.       f) if user specified a non-existent destination path in SFX archive
  38.          in Vista, SFX could enter into infinite "create new SFX window"
  39.          loop;
  40.  
  41.       g) WinRAR could fail to unpack an individual file from subfolder
  42.          of ACE archive using the drag and drop.

  47.    1. Numerous Windows Vista compatibility changes:
  48.  
  49.       a) help format changed from old HLP to newer HTML based CHM;
  50.  
  51.       b) GUI self-extracting modules attempt to request for
  52.          administrator permissions if they cannot create destination
  53.          folder under current user account;
  54.  
  55.       c) Log file rar.log and WinRAR theme files are stored
  56.          in %APPDATA%\WinRAR folder instead of WinRAR program files folder.

  58.          Exported settings file settings.reg is also stored
  59.          in %APPDATA%\WinRAR folder by default, but it is possible to
  60.          select another folder in "Save WinRAR settings" and "Load WinRAR
  61.          settings" dialogs.

  82.    2. Added support for ISO 13346 (UDF) file format. This format
  83.       is frequently used in ISO images of DVD disks.

  85.    3. Added Unicode support for ISO 9660 files, so WinRAR should
  86.       handle non-English file names in .iso files better.

  88.    4. Design changes in window displaying archiving and extraction
  89.       progress:

  91.       a) it provides more space for file names, allowing lengthy names;

  93.       b) it displays the current archive name in separate line,
  94.          allowing much longer archive names than before;

  96.       c) when archiving, it displays the current compression ratio
  97.          in separate line;

  99.       d) it can use both standard Windows and classic WinRAR progress bars.
  100.          Turn on "Windows progress bars" option in WinRAR "Settings/General"
  101.          dialog to use standard progress bars. By default this option is
  102.          on if some Windows visual style is active and off if Windows Classic
  103.          theme is selected.

  105.          Windows progress bars are two color only, so they do not indicate
  106.          the current compression ratio. But now the ratio is displayed
  107.          in separate line;

  109.       e) "Mode..." button moved to bottom of window.

  111.    5. GUI self-extracting modules support following command line
  112.       switches:
  113.  
  114.       -d<path>     set the destination path
  115.       -p<pwd>      specify a password
  116.       -s           silent mode, hide all
  117.       -s1          same as -s
  118.       -s2          silent mode, hide start dialog
  119.       -sp<par>     specify parameters for setup program
  120.  
  121.    6. GUI self-extracting modules do not pass the entire command line
  122.       to setup program like they did in previous versions.
  123.       If you need to get access to entire command line of SFX archive,
  124.       parse sfxcmd environment variable which contains this command line.

  126.    7. New switch -sc<charset>[objects] allowing to select character
  127.       sets for archive comments and list files. It replaces -fcu switch
  128.       introduced in RAR 3.60, which was removed from list of supported
  129.       switches. Now you need to specify -scuc instead of -fcu to use
  130.       Unicode comments. Unlike -fcu, -sc also supports OEM and ANSI charset.

  132.    8. New "Save archive copy as..." command in "File" menu.
  133.       This command may be useful if you opened an archive from Internet
  134.       directly in WinRAR and then decided to save it on local disk.

  136.    9. "Word wrap" command added to "View" menu of WinRAR internal viewer,
  137.       so you can change the wrapping mode of already opened viewer window.

  139.       State of this option is not stored between viewing sessions.
  140.       If you need to change the default word wrap mode, use WinRAR

  192.    1. Multithreaded version of RAR compression algorithm improves
  193.       the compression speed on computers with several CPU,
  194.       dual core CPU and processors with hyperthreading technology.
  195.       Multithreading is enabled by default, but you can disable it
  196.       in "General" part of "Settings" dialog.

  198.       In the command line mode you can control multithreading with
  199.       -mt<threads> switch.

  201.    2. WinRAR can display the folder tree panel allowing to navigate
  202.       in disk and archive folders. Use "Options/Folder tree" submenu
  203.       to enable the folder tree. It can be configured separately
  204.       in file and archive management modes.

  206.       Folder tree replaces "Browse for folder" command previously
  207.       available in "File" menu and uses its Ctrl+T keyboard shortcut.

  218.       has no files and only one 'somename' folder and if destination
  219.       folder is new or empty and also ends with '/somename', WinRAR
  220.       will exclude one 'somename' from resulting 'somename/somename' path.

  222.    6. New "Define volume sizes..." button in "Settings/Compression".
  223.       This button activates "Define volume sizes" dialog. Here you
  224.       can customize the list of predefined volume sizes associated
  225.       with "Split to volumes, bytes" field in archiving dialog.

  227.    7. Speed of RAR general compression increased for some data types.
  228.       Depending on data type and size the gain may achieve 5 - 15%.

  230.    8. New "Rename automatically" option in the extraction dialog
  231.       and command line -or switch to rename extracted files automatically
  232.       if file with the same name already exists. You can also enable
  233.       the auto-renaming mode directly from the overwrite confirmation
  234.       prompt with "Rename All" button.

  236.       Renamed files will get names like 'filename(N).txt',
  237.       where 'filename.txt' is the original file name and 'N' is a number.

  239.    9. "Set modification time" option in "Advanced" part of extraction
  240.       dialog is accessible also for ZIP archives. Previously it could be
  241.       changed only for RAR archives.

  243.   10. "Multithreading" option added to "Benchmark and hardware test"
  244.       command, so you can compare performance of usual and multithreaded
  245.       versions of RAR compression algorithm.
